Leta Worthington has spent 30+ years training, practicing, and teaching in the fields of animal communication, herbology, and other related areas. She studied extensively with Penelope Smith and Jeri Ryan in animal communication, and completed instructor training in animal communication with the former. She has also studied with and been mentored by well-known herbalist and author Matthew Wood. After taking courses in basic homeopathy with veterinarians Drs. Madalyn Ward and Christina Chambreau, Leta is qualified to teach a veterinarian-approved, homeopathic first-aid-for-animals workshop.
In the late 1980’s, Leta trained with Linda Tellington-Jones in her innovative approach to working with horses, TT.E.A.M., and attained the first practitioner level in this method.
Leta’s practice has included communicating with all manner of animals, plants, and nature spirits. She has regularly collaborated with veterinarians to assist in identifying challenging physical issues and to help resolve the psychological and emotional roadblocks that frequently hinder the healing process. She has worked extensively with flower essences and has successfully formulated a unique set of over 40 of them from Texas Hill Country wildflowers.
Leta’s more traditional career experiences and education have also served to strengthen her ability to gain insight into other species and the world of animal communication. Her academic degrees and certification in early childhood development and language and learning disabilities took her into years of teaching and working with handicapped, as well as non-handicapped children, and gave her a unique perspective on how differently each individual processes and conveys information. Much later, spending several years as a human resources director at a large corporation took her further into the world of understanding and counseling the human psyche. And, before all that, her experiences while employed as a veterinary technician provided a context in which to “tie it all together.” This particular combination of knowledge and skills has given Leta a rich set of gifts with which to help both humans and their companion animals.
Another passion of Leta’s is writing, and she has three published books on animal communication: Learn How to Talk to Animals: A Practical Guide for a Magical Journey; The Case of the Bedridden Bunny: How Sally the Pet Psychic Solved the Mystery (a children’s book in both English and Spanish) El caso del conejito enfermo: ¡Cómo Sally Salazar resolvió el misterio hablando con él!; and Animal Afterlife – In Their Own Words (in both English and Spanish) El Más Allá de los Animales: En sus propias palabras.
Leta is also a painter and focuses on animals as her subjects, portraying each animal’s unique personality and spirit through her work. She has made two lengthy trips to Africa and has dedicated proceeds from prints of one of her elephant paintings to help further research for the African Elephant, Loxodonta Africana, spearheaded by the non-profit organization Elephants for Africa.
After a move from Texas in 2008, Leta now lives and works in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with her large, multi-species family. She proudly served on the Board of Directors of the Santa Fe Animal Shelter for nine years in her new home state.
Leta and a few of her cohorts hard at work on a book!
